The lightest and most breathable road bike shoe in the Fizik model line
The Vento Powerstrap R2 Aerowave is a thoroughbred shoe for racing: Extremely light, extremely breathable and developed with an innovative, high-strength, net-like structure that is connected to a very stiff carbon sole.
The quest to reduce weight and increase ventilation while maintaining support and protection led Fizik designers and engineers to develop a new upper. Called Aeroweave, it is an advanced fabric that weaves lightweight nylon fibers with thermoplastic polymer filaments. This blend of threads creates a material with an open, mesh-like pattern that is extremely airy, yet very strong and resilient. The upper of the Vento Powerstrap R2 Aeroweave is so intensely ventilated that the rider's socks are visible through it. And yet the foot has a very good hold in the shoe.
While most classic Velcro straps simply pull two sides of the shoe upper together, the Vento Powerstrap configuration wraps a strap around the foot, allowing for ultimate comfort and support with just two straps. Instep and midfoot are separately adjustable for a custom fit and compression. These bands have been optimized to make them even lighter and stronger.
The Vento Powerstrap R2 Aeroweave also has a completely new outsole: the R2's specially developed sole made of carbon fibers saves weight and ensures increased rigidity. With an index of 10, the R2 is the stiffest outsole in the fizik range. A wide ventilation inlet and deep internal airflow ensure cooling airflow and help with temperature management. The cleats are positioned slightly further towards the heel compared to traditional placement to optimize pedaling efficiency and reduce stress on the knee, particularly suited to aggressive front aero riding positions.
