The solid Tarmac SL6 road bike from Specialized
When Specialized created the Tarmac, they didn't just want it to be fast. They wanted it to be fast everywhere. Long climbs, windy flats, Grand Tour stages, local rides - Specialized has built a road bike that lives up to their idea of completeness.
How did you do that? Specialized started with their Rider First Engineered™ frame and its perfectly tuned ride quality for every size, added groundbreaking aero technology that makes it 30 seconds over 40 kilometers faster than the Tarmac SL5, and then made it 20% lighter.
This Tarmac comes with a dependable spec that includes Shimano 10-speed mechanical shifting and quick-stopping hydraulic disc brakes, durable Axis Sport Disc wheels and their popular Power saddle.
highlights
- In designing the Tarmac, Specialized used advanced aerospace composite optimization software to revolutionize the design and build of their new FACT 8r carbon
- 500 individual pieces create seven different frame sizes with the same coordinated riding experience - that is their Rider First Engineered™ philosophy. They test every layer of carbon on every frame size to ensure all of their performance goals are met. To guarantee you feel the perfect ride, each frame is given a unique layup plan with different layouts, orientations, amounts of material in certain areas, and sometimes even exclusive thicknesses and types of carbon itself
- Aerodynamics is the most important thing that Specialized has been able to tinker with to make you faster. The new Tarmac comes with aero features without adding extra weight. During development, areas were discovered where they could add aero features without adding weight - a new fork and new seatstays made from aero-optimized tube shapes. The result? A Tarmac that is about 30 seconds faster over 40 kilometers
- The revised geometry of the Tarmac is based on countless Retül data and the input of professional drivers. As a result, Specialized was able to develop a performance road geometry that perfects the combination of a responsive front wheel and a short wheelbase, ensuring immediate response and optimal power transfer.
