Continental's Urban Taraxagum is the first mass-produced bicycle tire made from dandelion rubber to bear the Taraxagum™ brand name.

The project is embedded in an overarching sustainability strategy that takes economic, ecological and social aspects into account. With significantly shorter distances between the cultivation areas and our European tire plants, we can reduce the effort for logistics and transport and use resources more sustainably.

Vectran Breaker - the reference in puncture protection
Vectran™ is a synthetically manufactured high-tech fiber based on a natural model. Like spider silk, Vectran™ is a liquid crystalline polymer (LCP). Vectran™ is spun from the molten liquid polymer Vectra and processed into a multifilament yarn. Spider silk as well as Vectran™ have an enormous tear resistance with the lowest weight. Exactly the right properties to be processed as a puncture protection insert in a Continental top tire. A Vectran™ breaker is lighter, more flexible and protects more effectively against cuts than comparable nylon breaker. The Vectran™ Breaker does not affect the rolling resistance.
