The KEO Blade Carbon Ceramics thus benefits from the best weight / performance ratio in its category. The spring leaf is fully integrated into the new design, which guarantees an unsurpassed aerodynamics. The Blade Carbon with body and spring leaf made of carbon is available as version Cr (axle made of Chromoly +) with 110 g per pedal. It is available in three release hardnesses: 12, 16 and 20.
The pedal for champions
Every component, every ball is meticulously selected to ensure the highest level of quality and performance. The balls are calibrated by a machine individually down to the micrometer. They are then sorted by size in perfectly manufactured bearing rings. Thus, each bearing has a completely individual structure. The main advantage of ceramic bearings is their longevity. The harder and more accurate the balls are, the less sensitive they are to external influences and dust deposits. This allows a constant and lasting performance. Ceramics are also not exposed to the effects of corrosion. These physical properties ensure a lifetime that is 4 to 6 times longer than that of a standard steel bearing. Friction reduction is the most striking and outstanding advantage of ceramic bearings. The perfect ball shape, its hardness, coupled with the optimization of the fats used with this material, allows a reduction in the friction forces on the bearing by 18%.
Optimized axle line, greater power transmission and reliability
The axle line of the new blade carbon ceramic has been completely redesigned. It was built around an oversized axle and a cross-section axis line, which consists of an internally positioned ceramic bearing under the support surface. This new construction makes it possible to gain about 2 watts at 100 revolutions / minute. The distance between the ball bearing and the sleeve needle bearing has been increased by 25%. This provides more rigidity throughout the axle line and consequently improves power transmission. Particular attention was paid to the tightness. This has been improved by 120% for increased reliability and longevity. In addition, the new axle line received a new lid with O-ring at its outer end. It is equipped with an internally positioned double lip seal.
LOOK axles will only be released after a 2 million cycle test at 100 rpm with a 90 kg load at the center of the pedal and an eccentric rotation (which causes a shock every turn). This equates to a sprint by André GREIPEL with 1,700 watts at 100 revolutions / min, for 333 hours! This test goes far beyond the current ISO 4210 standard.
Super strong bearing surface
In order to meet the needs of the most demanding riders - namely competitors - the system of pedal and pedal plate with a large and rigid contact surface must allow efficient transmission of power. The bearing surface of the Blade Carbon ceramic is provided with a 67 mm wide attached and molded plate made of stainless steel. It optimizes the contact areas pedal plate / pedal for every tread angle. With a footprint of 700 mm², the Blade Carbon ceramic offers an optimized contact surface for efficient power transmission, which is second to none on the market. Their weight / performance ratio is significantly better than that of the competition.
