Vectran - the reference in puncture protection
Vectran ™ is a synthetically produced high-tech fiber based on a natural model. Like spider silk, Vectran ™ is a liquid crystalline polymer (LCP). Vectran ™ is spun from the molten liquid polymer Vectra and processed into a multi-fiber yarn. Spider silk as well as Vectran ™ are extremely tear-resistant and extremely lightweight. Exactly the right properties to be used as a puncture protection insert in a top Continental tire. A Vectran ™ Breaker is lighter, more flexible and protects more effectively against cuts than comparable nylon breakers. The Vectran ™ Breaker does not affect the rolling resistance.
DuraSkin - can take a beating
Tires with DuraSkin® sidewall protection must be able to insert properly. They are used under the most adverse conditions. On messenger bikes, the tires slide along curbs, on touring bikes they cross continents without chafing through, in racing they have to pass endurance tests like Paris-Roubaix. The high-quality polyamide fabric reliably protects the side of the tire and prepares the tire for the worst. These tires stand out from the crowd thanks to their brown sidewall.
