A tribute to the roots of MTB sport
From his humble beginnings as a teenager welding broken bike frames in his parents' garage in California more than 50 years ago, Tom Ritchey has continued to ride, research, design and build legendary bike frames and components that generations of cyclists will embrace inspired great rides, influenced legions of the bicycle industry and won countless championships.
And after a life off-road, Tom knows if there's one thing he knows, it's how to design a stunning mountain bike. When he first designed the Ultra he knew it would appeal to riders who demand special handling characteristics that only he could deliver - and this was in the 1980's! Good design stands the test of time and the latest iteration of the Ultra is a prime example of that. Like its predecessor 30 years ago, the Ultra offers a unique range of use for cross-country riders who want to let it rip and for enduro riders who crave all-mountain shredding.
This special 50th Anniversary Ultra pays tribute to Tom's significant history - it's an aesthetic nod to the past while delivering the stunning modern mountain biking experience that the Ultra is known for. Paying homage to Ritchey's rich history and sport-defining legacy of legendary mountain bikes, the 50th Anniversary Edition frame is wrapped in an iconic red, white and blue fade paint finish and features logos nodding to the company's history and influence, the Palo Alto , California on Tom had.
