Test verdict
Test result: "Grade 2.1" in Tour 01/22 (p. 67)The Zipp 454 NSW Tubeless Disc is the ultimate road racing wheel
It is aerodynamically efficient and stable in all wind conditions. In addition, a wider rim for tubeless tires with lower pressure has been developed to reduce rolling resistance and vibration losses so that you lose as little energy as possible on the go. This wheel is optimized for 25mm tubeless tires for maximum speed.
454 NSW tubeless for disc brakes
The 454 NSW features Zipp's most advanced technology. The wave-shaped 58mm Sawtooth rim shape with Hyperfoils is your most aerodynamic and most stable wheel. The 454 NSW features Zipp's Total System Effi ciency (TSE), the approach to combating the greatest speed opponents: wind resistance, gravity, rolling resistance and vibration losses.
The 454 NSW Tubeless for disc brakes are about half a kilo (more than 400 grams) lighter than their predecessors! The use of hookless (straight) rims in the 454 NSW is an essential part of “Making You Faster”. With hookless, the transition between tire and rim is more seamless and aerodynamic. Zipp's hookless rims have more efficient resin distribution, which means lighter and stronger wheels. An outdoor test commissioned by Zipp showed the advantages of the Zipp TSE in practice. With the new 454 NSW with 25 mm tires, a complete system of rider and bike weighing 85 kg requires 278 watts to maintain a speed of 40 km / h. That is a saving of 10 watts compared to the previous model 454 NSW.
At the heart of the 454 NSW is the Cognition V2 hub set, which has been redesigned with an updated Axial Clutch V2 mechanism for faster engagement, less friction and improved durability.
Attention: the illustration is an example!

Technologies used
In this chapter we explain the technologies that the manufacturer uses for this product.
Total system efficiency
Driving faster on or off the road means efficiency - more speed with less power. The combination of a wider, tubeless tire, lower tire pressure, a wider rim profile optimized for the tire interface and a new rim laminate ensures more efficient driving behavior. When used on bicycles, efficiency means less effort in overcoming: air resistance, gravity, rolling resistance and vibration losses
ImPress ™
Zipp uses Zipp's ImPress ™ graphics technology, which prints graphics directly onto the wheel. In this way, the wells can do exactly what they are intended for - control of vortex shedding, i.e. the rate at which air turbulences are detached from the impeller. This is very important for stability.
scope of delivery
- 1 x Zipp 454 NSW Carbon Disc 28 '' rear wheel (see item description for details)
- 1 x Centerlock locking ring
- 1 x end cap
