The Rohloff AG manufactures impulse components for the sports bicycle sector. The main product is the 14 speed gear hub SPEEDHUB 500/14. It is successfully established in the areas mountain bike, trekking, downhill and city bike, recumbent bike and rehab bike. The company was founded in 1986 by Barbara and Bernhard Rohloff for the production of the S-L-T 99 bike control chain and is based in Kassel. The chain established fast on the market. In 1989 the italian company „Campagnolo“ joined Rohloff. From 1989 to 1993 all Campagnolo groups worldwide were delivered with the Rohloff chain. Just in time for the 10-year anniversary in 1996 the gear hub SPEEDHUB 500/14 was introduced on the IFMA in Cologne. The Rohloff gear hub still is the only gear hub replacing modern 27 speed derailleur gears completely and it is designed for the sporting use.
The Rohloff AG has specialized on the development, the montage and the worldwide distribution of their products. The components for the products are manufactured in Germany from about 150 suppliers. The delivered components are obstructed to the finished products after a quality control.
