The Rapide CL II shares the same rims with the Rapide CLX II to boost its performance with Specialized "Tubeless done Right" technology. Deep cut front rims are affected by cross winds. A fact that has a negative effect on driving behavior and which in turn causes you to slow down. Using the first modeling algorithm based on average rider reaction times and validated through on-road testing, Specialized has developed a front wheel rim that reduces both drag and stability in sudden gusts of wind by 25% compared to their previous ones 50mm rims increased. The rear wheel is the last thing the wind sees. So they developed a rim shape to minimize drag on the back of the bike. With a depth of 60mm and an external width of 30mm, the Rapide CL II's rear rim reduces turbulence and offers the greatest aerodynamic advantage. Since the rear wheel does not affect the steering like the front wheel, this low design does not have a negative effect on handling. Together, the front and rear wheels are the fastest package for real-world racing conditions.
The Rapide CL II wheelset is handcrafted at every step - from spoking to final spoke tension. Built on DT Swiss 350 hubs with ratchet freewheel (36 teeth) and Competition Race straightpull spokes, the result is a wheelset that was designed as a complete system, weighs only 1,590g and has incredible reliability and durability even in World Tour dimensions and performance. The lower rolling resistance, better handling and excellent puncture protection of a tubeless setup are undeniable. The development of the Rapide CL II included the most rigorous and extensive design and testing program ever undertaken by Specialized . The result is a wheelset that exceeds current industry standards for impact resistance by nearly twice, while achieving the lowest possible weight. The Rapide CL II features hooked rims that hold tire beads securely and make installation easier than ever. This allows a tire pressure of up to 7.5 bar ... if you want that.
