The wheel to leave them all behind you
Why should you be forced to choose between aerodynamics and weight, between ride quality and speed? That's right, Specialized sees it that way too, you shouldn't have to. Conquer the mountain with the lightest bike allowed by the UCI and then ride back down with the fastest - clear the stage for the new Tarmac. Specialized has used your most advanced technologies, from the FreeFoil Shape Library to a brand new Rider First Engineered ™ frame, to build a road bike that is completely uncompromising. Gone are the days when we sacrificed between "aero" and "lightweight" bikes - the brand new Tarmac is the fastest racing bike of all time.
Only the best components are suitable to complete the fastest frame in the world. That is why you will find a SRAM Red eTap AXS groupset with power meter and the new CLX Rapide wheels from Roval with their exceptional stability and aerodynamics on your S-Works Tarmac.
Highlights
- "Aero is everything" - that's what Specialized has been preaching for years and it's still the driving force behind their development. When looking for pipe shapes that would provide the fastest frame UCI rules allow, they took a page from the Venge development book and used their FreeFoil Shape Library. Armed with a variety of optimized tube shapes, Specialized turned to the in-house wind tunnel to put these shapes into a modular test bike and perform further tests and validations. The result? The new Tarmac that is the fastest they have ever tested. No compromises, pure speed
- While the aerodynamics were in the foreground in the development of the Tarmac and in the development of all of their racing bikes, the weight was the co-pilot on this optimal racing bike tour. In the past, "aero bikes" always made compromises in terms of weight - the more you reduced the air resistance, the more weight you accepted. With the new Tarmac, Specialized design philosophy was to keep the weight at or below the UCI weight limit without sacrificing aerodynamics. And with the help of the FreeFoil Shape Library, tools like isotope FEA analysis, and some engineering from the best engineers in the industry, they achieved just that
- In their quest to create the perfect road bike, Specialized their Rider First Engineered ™ philosophy to ensure the new Tarmac is the most balanced and manageable Tarmac yet - regardless of frame size. With a bevy of top athletes from their three World Tour teams - Boels-Dolmans, Deceuninck-Quick-Step and Bora-hansgrohe - they made changes to the Tarmac based on their wishes. Specialized has balanced the ride quality between the front and rear wheels so that even the longest days in the saddle are still comfortable - without sacrificing the legendary handling and racing speed of the Tarmac
- Building on the knowledge gathered about the development of the Venge, the new Tarmac uses a simple integration to create a clean and, above all, fast cockpit. They've improved cable routing for every component configuration - mechanical shifters, traditional stems, round handlebars, etc. - while maintaining aerodynamic properties. The same features make it easy to work on and travel with the new Tarmac
