Take it too far
There are performance gains everywhere, small improvements for big bikes, and yes, a little obsession involved. But how far is too far? Orbea's goals, her competitors and her creative spirit always drive her to victory. And once you know how sweet success tastes, you always want more. He becomes obsessed with being the best. You feel it in your heart, in your lungs, in your legs - and you recognize it in Orbea's wheels. Orbea can only achieve its major goals if they continue to perfect the smallest details and leave the limits of what seems feasible behind them.
rigidity
Most of the torsional forces and lateral loads are absorbed by the lower part of the frame. The head tube, down tube and chainstays withstand the stress and transfer the power efficiently to the rear wheel. The more torsion-resistant the frame is here, the more power is transferred from the legs directly to the ground and the more immediate the power transmission.
smoothness
Orbea has carefully studied how the rider's weight affects the frame. With the knowledge gained, they can influence how vibrations are transmitted through the upper part of the frame. For example, the new Alma has thinner seat stays. Thanks to their reduced cross-section and diameter, they offer delicate support for the seat tube. The top tube, on the other hand, is particularly robust at the front of the head tube in order to increase torsional rigidity. Towards the rear, however, the top tube tapers quickly in order to save material and thus weight. The damping properties achieved by the carbon layup and the narrow design of the top tube and seat stays give the Alma dynamic yet smooth-running handling, with which the bike just glides over rough ground. The effect is subtle but noticeable. At the end of a tough race, just such a detail can mean the difference between a place on the podium and a consolation prize.
Orbea World Cup Geometry
Years of development of top-of-the-line cross-country bikes has resulted in the Alma's World Cup geometry. The seating position is aggressive, fast and yet comfortable. Compared to trail geometry, which sacrifices a bit of precision for endurance, cross-country geometry is designed for precision riding and maximum power transfer. All angles and dimensions have been carefully optimized for all available frame sizes in order to guarantee maximum power through maximum efficiency.
