To say that shoes are a critical piece of gear is an understatement. At Specialized , they spend a lot of time on the trails, which is why they thought about how they could develop even better bike shoes. With Specialized Body Geometry features like the arch support, the varus wedge and a metatarsal button, they can offer more comfort, a better performance potential and a lower risk of injury. The key is to listen to what your own body and your team's riders want to create bike shoes that meet everyone's needs.

When we think of rubber, we think of soft and pliable. But flexing isn't what you want in a flat pedal shoe. You want a rubber sole that hugs your pins without feeling squishy. Because that is exactly what creates a feeling of security and connection with your pedals.
The 2FO Roost features Specialized newly developed 3rd generation SlipNot™ rubber sole, which is designed to literally stick to the pins.

The new generation of their SlipNot™ rubber has been arranged in a hexagonal lug pattern, giving riders a secure, literally “cemented” feel. This sole profile is perfect for trail use and also helps reduce overall abrasion when walking. This ensures long-lasting functionality and durability.

Super stylish and still fast
Specialized wants to keep the 2FO Roost as light as possible, so they ditched the traditional foam padding in the upper section and replaced it with X-PEL™ Airmesh. This special material is characterized above all by the fact that it can store very little water, so that the shoe does not become soaked when wet and dries easily overnight.
Nerd on the inside, party boy on the outside
How did Specialized all that science and materials into a shoe that looks so good? A shoe that shines at both the after ride beer and when sending the jump line? That probably remains the secret of their designer. But we can reveal this much:
In order to increase longevity and reduce abrasion, suede was used in the heavily used areas. The modern silhouette ensures the shoe looks just as good on the bike as it does in the pub. It's all combined with clean colors and minimal branding, so the rider feels comfortable in their footwear no matter where the trail takes them.
