Specialized was inspired by trail bike technology and opted for a 35mm handlebar clamp. This creates the stiffness that Specialized athletes demand and forms the basis for the ultra-light, handcrafted carbon layup. And when they say ultra-light, they mean it, because their SL handlebars weigh just 185g.

But light weight and stiffness are not the only ingredients in the recipe for success. What you also need is precise control downhill and a comfortable and non-tiring position on strenuous climbs.
